Subway or Quiznos
By Janet Jenson of Lunch Money
Starting an article about sandwiches is making me hungry. Before the first sentence ended I almost got up to make myself a a snack. Since Subway's started using 9-grain bread, though, it sometimes makes more sense to just go out for one of theirs instead. I like everything on the sandwich and seldom do we have all of those different kinds of veggies and condiments at home. The problem with going out for a sandwich, though, is deciding whether to go to Subway's or Quiznos. Before Subway started using healthier and tastier bread I preferred to go to Quiznos. But then something else happened. The owner of our local Quiznos decided to have her employees cut off the ends of the bread and save them for the birds. I like birds, but I also like the ends of the sandwiches. I think it should have been my choice whether to eat the ends or donate them to 2-legged critters. So I found myself gravitating toward Subway instead. They kept my interest by extending their specials of the $5 footlongs. Then it wasn't long before Quizno's started offering $5 sandwiches. Sometimes I lose my appetite just trying to decide where to go. Sandwiches I make at home might not be as fancy or as standardized as the ones they sell at the leading sandwich chains, but I don't end up agonizing about whether to go here or there. At home I just eat up whatever is in the refrigerator. Probably there is something good in there right now. I think I'll go have a look. |

LoL... reading this made me hungry!! I do agree, they're both good, and it can be hard to decide... I have to choose between Mr. Sub and Quiznos though.... ;0)

Mr. Sub just shows white bread on their web page, so that would be an easy choice for me. I gotta have whole-grain! Quiznos just came out with some new flavors, but lately I have been baking my own multi-grain rolls and have not gone to check theirs out.
I see you're in the USA, maybe it's different but I'm in Canada and the Mr. Sub here has a good variety of breads to choose from besides white. You would definitely get your whole grain here ;0)

Great! I was hoping you would say that. Unfortunately there aren't any Mr. Subs near me. I put my Southern California zipcode in and they showed me a location in a city of the same name but in Texas! That might be too far to go for a sandwich!
I live in a rural area, no sandwich shops near by. It definitely makes the choice easier ;)
To me the choice is easy. Have A foot long Steak, Egg and Cheese Omelet at Subway for breakfast. A large prime rib sub at Quizno's for lunch and then see what's in the refrigerator for supper. I was hoping to see a picture of the inside of your fridge for some ideas for supper.
